Kenguru Car – The World’s First EV Car For Wheelchair Users

The Kenguru is a revolutionary new vehicle that measures 7 feet long and 5 high, making it smaller than even the Smart Car. It has no seats – drivers simply roll their wheelchairs in from pop up back doors! History

Kenguru’s original concept was developed by Istvan Kissaroslaki from Hungary many years ago, but it hadn’t been able to go into production without substantial financial backing. In 2010 Stacy Zoern an American lawyer became disabled with a muscle disease- came across the Kenger online and thought he would just what she needed!
Kissaroslaki was convinced by Zoern to move the company out of Greece, finally settling in Austin. They’ve been looking for investors ever since they got here. 

The company announced that Kenguru is finally going into production and interested buyers can reserve one online. The first cars are expected to be ready in 12-18 months! source Bloomberg.

Kenguru Electric Car

The Kenguru has just one door, which takes up the entire back panel of this vehicle. The driver is housed inside a fiberglass cocoon measuring 2125 mm (83.6 in) long, 1620 mm (63.8 in) wide and 1525 m (60 in) tall, which is smaller than you’d think. With the batteries installed, the empty weight increases to 550 kg (1200 lb).

Instead of the traditional steering wheel and pedals, Kenguru drivers control their cars with handlebars. There are buttons for accelerate or brake without having to use feet! Moreover, there’s even a mechanism that locks your chair so it won’t turn until its securely fastened down–perfect for those who has difficulty getting in or out.

With a weight of just 12 pounds, the Kenguru is so small and lightweight that it classifies as an electric scooter. This means you don’t need to worry about getting licensed for your own personal use! So, you can also call it a mobility scooter that looks like a car.

Kenguru As Compared To Other Mobility Scooters

Kenguru is a unique car in that it is one of the only scooters on the market that is legally allowed to be driven on the road. Most other scooters are classified as either power chairs or electric wheelchairs, which means they are limited to sidewalks and crosswalks. 

The Kenguru also has a much higher weight capacity than most other scooters. This makes it perfect for those who are heavier or have difficulty walking long distances. In addition, the Kenguru can reach speeds of up to 25 miles per hour, making it one of the fastest mobility scooters on the market!
